Surprised the orienteering world by winning the gold medal at the World Orienteering Championships middle distance in Finland in 2013 - and building on the success by winning the relay with Russia the day after. Leonid is the younger brother of Valentin (10 years older), who in 2013 had four individual WOC medals on the middle distance (between 2004 and 2012) - still waiting for gold - and was among the gold favourites in this very race.
